Three months ago, it was unthinkable that I would visit Thailand with my family to spend the holidays. I almost hadn’t thought of Thailand as a good place to visit, not to talk of an extended holiday visit. Yet, three months later and a beautiful sport included, my family is jokingly considering we become Thai.
What has fascinated me the most about Thailand?
Asides from the utopic sights of the beaches, islands, thick jungles, and beautiful interlace of nature, what has fascinated me most is the culture. There are many manifestations of the historical but relevant parts of the Thai boxing culture, and some of them I would like to mention here are.
· The beautiful art of Muay Thai boxing
Thai boxing as I learnt is one of the ancient arts of the Thai culture. It evolved from a military combat system but has become a fast-growing sport and fitness routine in the world. I first heard of this sport while in the U.S, but never took it seriously until my family got here.
Now, all of us visit our regular camps here in Thailand every day to keep fit and learn more useful defensive techniques.
· Interesting culture of the Thai people
The culture here in Thailand is something that is found in fewer places in the world. It is not just visible in their exotic foods and dressing but their warm hearts and peaceful cities.
The other day, I dropped off my wallet while trying to pay the bus driver, and I was shocked when a boy of no more than 14 years ran after me to return it. He even refused my token of gratitude. This enviable culture has also seeped int0o their Thai boxing sport.
Some of the core values of the sport are respect, obedience, duty, dignity, and family.
· Wonderful places to visit
What is a holiday without visiting great places? These sorts of places are not alien to Thailand. A kingdom, there are many others like that.
Although I wanted to see the thick jungles where some Hollywood movies are shot in Thailand, my family voted to go to the beach. And even if it was with grudges, I joined them at the beach, it was an unforgettable experience.
Note: The coconuts are unbelievable! And it is crazy what they do with them!
· It is friendly to your pocket
Unlike many other cities of its class in Europe and America, Thailand cities are relatively cheaper. You won’t even believe their rates for transport, housing/hotels, feeding, entertainment, and co. The place is just a dream for all tourists.
· Good for your health
Your holidays should not be bad for your health. Asides from the Muay Thai sport that helps you maintain fitness, the country is in the tropics. It means your body will get the required exposure to the sun, especially after bitter winters. Suwit Muay Thai for battle industry is a new vacation destination.
Thailand hosts some of the largest carnivals in the world. Not only do they attract an unbelievable number of tourists, but great spectacle, side attractions, and benign environment.
My conclusion: Only a few countries compare to Thailand when it comes to tourism, and my family is already budging me about returning right on the plane.
